Who is the New York Local Joint Work/Family Committee?
The NY Local Joint W/F Committee (NY Local Committee), comprised of union and management representatives, is responsible for researching, developing, funding, monitoring, deploying proposals for funding by regional, and communicating work/family initiatives. Some of the initiatives that have come out of this Committee have been Short Notice EWD’s (Excused Work Days) and Gradual Return to Work (GRW), where employees can return to work gradually, after the birth or adoption of a child.

- Child Care and Elder Care
Reimbursement
- Summer Camp/Care Reimbursement
- Domestic Abuse Awareness Training
- Family care education programs for employees and their families
- Child and elder care resource and referral services.
- Community development programs to increase and expand family care services
and educational programs in the communities.
- Conduct surveys to determine the family care needs of employees.
- Programs/Policies to assist employees in dealing with stress social issues,
and balancing work and family.
